Our first show of the season was a pleasantly warm one compared to last year, where we froze our fingers off. The sky was a touch too cloudy for my tastes, but I won’t complain… much. Some cloud coverage is fabulous for photos, but too much can be difficult to work with.

A few new things came with this season: we have a digital sign up form for Dressage Shows and are working to streamline the process even more. Also, keep an eye out for new and improved Day of Show Viewing/Ordering. New, new, new!
Speaking of, there were a lot of new faces this year, both human and equine. It was a pleasure to photograph everyone and I hope to meet more of you as the season progresses!
On to the photos: When I “chimped” this photo (above, original on the left), I knew I had to play with it when we returned home. The effect took a couple of hours, and I’m still playing with the final results (right). When I’m finished, it’s going to be printed on either metal (actual metal) or a metallic photographic paper and big. I mean huge, big, to hang in my office. Stay tuned for installation pictures of that one! I’m very excited!
Is this effect something you would like done to your photos? Contact me and I’ll be happy to re-work any of my images, whether from a show or custom portrait session, to create a one of a kind piece of artwork to hang in your home.
Finally, I can’t talk about this show without talking about this picture (right). It seemed almost every rider had an issue with that first approach… I was almost afraid I’d have no jumping photos! As the rails went up, the fun began and we had a show. Then this rider approaches and I hear someone behind me shout out “Nice Save!”. I checked my camera to make sure I’d captured it. Sure enough, I mean, wow, what a way to clear a jump!
We’ll see you back at Walnut Creek Stables on April 22 and are still booking shows for 2012. If you are wanting a private photographer or your barn needs an Official Photographer on grounds, please contact us.
